Process Engineering Manager

Job Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Critical)

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent

  • Design / Draughting experience
  • CAD
  • Use of Measuring Equipment
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience in a Production Engineering Environment
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in Process Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years managerial experience

Technical skills and specialist knowledge:

  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Problem solving Methodology.
  • Knowledge of the Ramsay Manufacturing Excellence system
  • General understanding of press and injection moulding tool design and manufacture
  • General understanding of the operation of metal presses and injection moulding machines
  • General understanding of the process parameters in metal pressing and injection moulding
  • Familiarity with environmental and safety, health, and environment regulations
  • Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills

Elimination of waste

  • Drive ME Improvement objectives by analysis of lost time using the relevant problem-solving techniques.
  • Monitor & reduce scrap (By means of but not limited to the TQM process)
  • Ensure all agreed improvements are timeously planned and implemented. 

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive improvement targets through the ME and TQM processes. (With the intention to reduce downtime and cost of poor quality).
  • Ensure Improvement Targets to Budgets are met.
  • Kaizen Initiatives (Drive A3 problem solving activities to eliminate waste, improve Quality and production output within all areas of control).

5’s

  • Ensure 5S is principles are practiced at all times.
  • Ensure 5S initiatives are implemented on new lines. (Support with 5S improvement activities to ensure 5S is sustained in all areas of control).

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Comply with all applicable compliance obligations to which the company subscribes to.
  • Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Provide a workplace that is without risk of injury and ill-health.
  • Drive initiatives to ensure that we improve our environment and prevent pollution.
  • Correct PPE & PPC Usage in all areas of control (Advise on correct PPE and PPC for facility requirements).

Quality

  • Meet or exceed customer requirements (Ensure products meet customer specifications, standards, and requirements for new and existing components).
  • Risk Based Thinking (Identify risks that will affect quality for new and existing products and implement the required actions to alleviate these risks).
  • Approval of manufacturing processes and equipment (Jigs, fixtures and manufacturing processes will need to be designed, manufactured/ implemented, and bought off/ approved to the relevant standards within the organisation
  • Assist in trial activities to ensure all internal and customer requirements are met (Manufacturing processes must adhere to the quality requirements within the organization) (MPT).

Delivery

  • Develop, configure, and optimize processes from inception through to start up and customer buy-off.
  • Designing, planning and implementation of equipment layouts and flows.
  • Process optimization (With the objective of reducing downtime and cost of poor quality).
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions with the objective of increasing production output as well as improving quality to a defined budget.
  • APQP (Support cross-functional team to ensure that all customer requirements are met, and the project is delivered as per the master schedule within the project budget).
  • Define and implement process documentation and operating instructions.
  • Establish safety procedures to mitigate the risks identified in all areas of control.
  • Define set process parameters to ensure that the inputs are controlled to produce consistent product that complies to all the customer requirements.
  • Conduct Process capability studies to ensure that CPK and PPK requirements are always maintained.
  • Document and manage changes to the processes within your area of control (Adhering with the companies’ procedures and policies at all times).

Attendance

  • Responsible for teams’ attendance to ensure that the company target is met (Since the role is to support production, your team’s attendance is vital for the successful running of the plant).

People Development

  • Responsible for the personal development of your team in line with company strategy
  • Adhere to HR policies & procedures.
  • Conduct Performance reviews on all team members.
  • Conduct and manage IDP’s on all team members (Ensure all team members are adequately trained to perform duties that are assigned to them. Training records are to be maintained).

General

  • Carry out all reasonable instructions/tasks (Carry out any reasonable instructions/tasks issued by the General Manager).
  • Uphold the Company Vision & Values (Act in the best interest of the company in accordance with all the Company Policy & Procedures).
