Purchasing Specialist

Experience:

  • 10 years’ experience in a Commercial (Sales / Procurement) role of middle or senior management in the Automotive Manufacturing industry.
  • Previous working Experience in SYSPRO (ERP Systems).

 Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (Critical),
  • Diploma or Degree in Procurement / Supply Chain advantageous

Basic Function and Responsibilities

Basic Function:

  • Ensure cost–effective procurement of materials that are sourced ethically to meet quantity, delivery and quality

 Responsibilities:

Supplier Selection (Sourcing)

    • Source suppliers in accordance with the Group’s policies and procedures.
    • Identify consolidation opportunities to build economies of scale in the supply base.

Supplier Monitoring (Performance)

    • Manage, prepare and send supplier performance scorecards monthly.
    • Engage and implement development plans with poor performing suppliers.

Contract Management

    • Maintain the Group’s contract registers for material supply.
    • Prepare and coordinate supply contracts with GM where contracts are not in place or invalid/outdated.

Cost Management

    • Prepare updates of agreed pricing on-time to minimise PPV.
    • Analyse and assess pricing PPV and report monthly to GM.
    • Carry-out benchmarking activities in accordance with agreed plans with GM.
    • Analyse, negotiate and submit supplier APR’s to Sales and Marketing in accordance with customer specific timeframes.

 

  • Risk Management
    • Conduct supplier risk assessments in line with policies and procedures

External customers:

  • Suppliers
  • Auditing Bodies

Job Specification

Technical skills and specialist knowledge:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills (Critical)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Strong customer / supplier interface skills.
  • Management and financial management knowledge.
  • Technical knowledge of automotive components
