The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures to ensure a safe, compliant, and productive workplace. This role aims to protect the well-being of employees, contractors, and visitors, uphold regulatory standards, and promote a culture of safety across all organizational levels. The Health and Safety Manager will work closely with operations, logistics, and engineering teams to identify and mitigate risks, reduce incidents, and ensure continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety Management:
- Conduct regular risk assessments and lead incident investigations to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Plan and conduct internal health and safety audits, ensuring compliance with ISO 45001 and other relevant standards.
- Monitor compliance testing for equipment and occupational hygiene findings.
- Develop emergency response systems, including fire safety, medical emergencies, and disaster recovery plans.
- Establish and maintain legal health and safety appointments.
- Align health and safety goals with overall business objectives and track performance metrics.
Environmental Management:
- Oversee waste management, environmental impact assessments, and sustainability initiatives.
- Achieve and maintain ISO 14001 certification and manage effluent discharge permits and compliance.
- Promote eco-friendly practices and implement continuous environmental improvements.
Employee Engagement & Training:
- Organise and facilitate safety training programs, including hazard awareness and proper PPE usage.
- Promote mental health and well-being initiatives to foster a holistic safety culture.
- Encourage employee feedback and participation in health and safety programs.
Job Requirements
- Occupational Health and Safety Diploma or equivalent
- 5 – 10 years’ experience in a Health and Safety Managerial role
- Experience in ISO 14001 and 45001 is essential
