Trainee Process Technician

Main purpose:

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the quality standards and customer specifications in the Electro-coating line are adhered to.

Job objectives:

Quality

  • Ensure the product voltage, PH conductivity, acid level and temperature are correct according to specifications before use.
  • Ensure that all chemicals transferred to the effluent plant is in line with the Environmental work instructions and procedures.

Manufacturing

  • Optimise line process parameters to improve units per input hour.
  • Ensure that all tanks and pumps are maintained to eliminate any production downtime.
  • Ensure that the chemicals specifications of the tanks are in line with the work instructions.
  • Responsible for the make-up and additions of the chemicals to the various tanks are correct according to the specifications.
  • Ensure that the Handover procedure is followed and detailed accordingly
  • Update all process instructions as need be.
  • Do SEM test on Phosphate tank, analyse the data and do corrective action
  • Do temperature tests on the ovens, analyse the data, and keep records.
  • Do trials on new work, record settings and jigging on work instructions
  • Fault find and correct any abnormalities that arise in the process and report any abnormalities to the process technician

Job Specification

Technical skills and specialist knowledge:

  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Technical report writing
  • Problem solving skills & technical investigations
  • Maintain and update the Ramsay Manufacturing Excellence system
  • Good understanding of PH chemical balances
  • Knowledge of the environmental regulations
  • Phosphating process
  • Dealing with suppliers
  • Investigating of new technologies
  • Kaizen proposals and implementation
  • Developing and mentoring of graduates and experiential learners

Experience:

  • 0-2 years’ experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma in Chemical Engineering or studying towards National Diploma in chemical engineering
  • Handling of hazardous chemicals (Beneficial)
  • PPG certificate of training. (Beneficial)
